Run for Freshman Rep!

Dear Freshmen College Democrats,

The Freshman Rep Elections are coming up, and I'm ecstatic about the e-mails I've gotten from eager Freshmen who are interested in running. So here are a couple rules and directions regarding the elections coming up on Sept 16th. (instructions are below)

-Candidacy Statement: You must e-mail me your candidacy statement (please keep your statement no longer than 300 words) by 3:00 pm, September 13th. Candidacy statements usually contain a brief introduction, background, visions for the CDs, etc. The candidacy statements will then be posted online on our website. You can send me your candidacy statements at [email protected].

-Campaign Rules: Only dues-paying, Freshman, members of the College Democrats can run in the election. As soon as you send me your candidacy statement and receive a confirmation e-mail, you are free to publicly campaign. Public campaigning includes establishing a Facebook page or group, distributing campaign literature or posters, e-mails of any sort, etc. Please adhere to resident hall rules regarding putting up posters.

-Election Day: Election Day will be on Wednesday, September 16, 7:00 pm, at the Marvin Center room 308. Only dues-paying Freshmen members of the College Democrats can vote in the election, and only for the candidate representing the campus you reside in. We will give every candidate no more than two minutes to deliver their final speech before the voting begins. We will then tally up the votes, and the winners will be announced the next day.

If you have any questions, or if you haven't registered as full dues-paying members with the College Democrats, please e-mail me at [email protected].
