New Heights Communication Internship Summer/Fall 2015

New Heights Communications works with change-makers doing cutting-edge work to win campaigns and to influence public policy. They influence debate on issues such as the death penalty, reproductive justice and protecting workers rights while working with clients such as progressive advocacy organizations, national non-profits, political groups and public interest law firms.

 

Interns can expect to:

  • Create press lists, pitch media and develop media coverage reports for their clients;
  • Develop marketing materials and manage social media for New Heights;
  • Develop creative ideas to get their clients in the news;
  • Be part of a small, energetic team where everyone has a hand in everything.

Ideal candidates are:

  • Undergraduate or recent grad, and have or are working toward a bachelor’s degree in communications, political science, economics or related field;
  • Passionate about progressive causes, rebuilding the middle class, and protecting civil rights – and good at explaining why;
  • An excellent writer who can quickly grasp new content and adapt easily to changing tone, voice, format and end-goals in writing;
  • Mature, responsible, and can handle projects in a short time frame;
  • Able to devote at least 2-3 days per week for a period of 10 weeks;
  • Located in Washington, DC, although we’re willing to accept telecommuters.
