HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT SEEKS PRESS INTERNS

The Hillary Clinton for President Exploratory Committee has immediate openings for press interns on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekends. Past experience in press or communications, especially on the Hill or on a campaign, is a bonus but not a requirement. DCCC COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIP

Qualifications:
Interns at the DCCC must be able to work independently as well as respond to direction. Most importantly, interns must finish
assigned work quickly, thoroughly, and accurately. Other qualifications include:

Commitment to the goals of the Democratic Party and the DCCC
Good analytical, writing, telephone, and speaking skills
Working knowledge of the legislative and electoral process, especially in regards to the House of Representatives
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and other applicable computer programs
What does an internship at the DCCC give you?

The DCCC will assist the intern in obtaining academic credit.
The DCCC provides a transportation stipend for the metro.
Interns will have exposure to important and well-connected people in the Democratic Party. Interns will probably meet Members of Congress and many of the staff members.
You will also be able to get a hands-on, insider view of some of the strategies, policies, and procedures followed in national campaign politics.
Application Deadlines:
The DCCC intern program accepts students year-round, and scheduling is flexible. Fall internships are between September and December. Spring Internships are between January and May. And Summer Internships are between June and August.

Communications:
The DCCC’s communications department engages in a variety of message activities to help elect a Democratic majority and to further the Democratic Caucus’ political objectives through earned media. The primary goal of the communications department is communicating a strong and effective Democratic message in the national and local press in the House’s key battleground states. In addition, the communications department offers a variety of services to Democratic Members. Our staff is dedicated to meeting a broad array of Members’ communication needs.

Duties: The Communications Intern would assist the Press Assistant in maintaining district specific lists of media outlets, sending out press releases through fax and e-mail, and monitoring media coverage using an online media monitoring service. The Intern would also provide daily Administrative support for the Communications Director and the department as a whole.

Internship Opportunity Available for Summer, 2007

Fundraising and Development Intern
Senator Feingold’s Progressive Patriots Fund is seeking a qualified and motivated intern to work in the DC campaign office beginning June 1, 2007. The intern will be given a wide array of tasks and is guaranteed to learn a great deal about fundraising and multi-candidate political action committees. Strong communication, research and organizational skills are required, and knowledge of computers is also appreciated. Availability on Mondays and Fridays is preferred. Internship is unpaid and requires a commitment of 15-20 hours per week.

Primary responsibilities:
Assist the Campaign finance staff with a variety of tasks and projects including, but not limited to fundraising, event/trip planning, data entry and research.
Perform daily office functions, such as answering phones, sending and receiving mail, relaying messages, and compiling daily news clippings.

Occasionally attend and assist with campaign fundraising events.

SENATOR JOHNSON’S OFFICE
As students begin to plan for their summer and fall semesters, U.S. Senator Tim Johnson (D-SD) is now accepting applications for summer and fall internship positions in his Washington, DC, Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Aberdeen offices.

The Washington, DC internship program matches interns’ interests to South Dakota and federal issues and provides a “hands-on” opportunity to experience a wide-range of office duties. Interns may attend hearings, research issues for projects, and work with the office administrative staff. Students may also apply to intern in the press shop for Johnson. Press interns work on tracking media coverage, organizing clips, writing releases, and other various press shop activities, as needed.

“This is an excellent opportunity for college students to experience the United States Senate, Capitol Hill and Washington, DC,” Johnson has said. “An internship in my Washington, DC office will provide students with a chance to serve South Dakota and gain first-hand knowledge of the federal government.”

Johnson has also said that interning in his state offices will provide students with in-depth knowledge of current issues affecting the state and the opportunity to work directly with South Dakotans. An intern in a state office will assist staff with special events, constituent casework, and administrative functions.

Johnson is a member of the following committees: Appropriations; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Budget; Energy and Natural Resources; Ethics; and Indian Affairs. In addition to these committees, Johnson also is involved in issue areas that include economic development, health care, housing, and education.

THE KAUFFMAN GROUPInternship opportunity in a small, fast-paced Democratic fundraising firm working directly for the National Finance Directors and Deputies to raise money for a variety of clients, including Friends of Sherrod Brown and Obama for America. Interns will assist in all aspects of planning and implementing fundraising events including: making fundraising calls, overseeing logistical details, maintaining commitment sheets and implementing donor follow up plan. They will also build relationships with co-hosts and coordinate with them prior and during events. Interns will have the chance to attend fundraising events and help on site.
