THE TRUMP RESISTANCE REPORT IS A WEEKLY REPORT PUBLISHED BY THE YOUNG & BLUE THAT SUMMARIZES THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION'S WEEKLY SHENANIGANS. WHILE IT IS INTENDED TO POKE FUN AT MANY OF THE UNCONVENTIONAL AND UNPRECEDENTED ACTIONS, IT ALSO SERVES TO EDUCATE ITS READERS AND KEEP THEM ON THEIR TOES FOR WHAT'S TO COME.
Thursday, August 31, 2017 - CMS announces budget cuts for ACA advertising
Well, it seems that even though Trump could get neither a repeal nor a replace passed in the last Congressional session (probably because any alternative would’ve been disastrous and stupid), he still has it out for Obama’s Affordable Care Act. Last Thursday, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced that spending on advertisement for a shortened enrollment period would be slashed by 90 percent thanks to the Trump Administration. Because, you know, if you can’t get a better deal passed, you might as well just blatantly allow millions to lose coverage.
Friday, September 1, 2017 - DOJ releases file stating no evidence to support Obama wiretapping claims
In a truly shocking and entirely unexpected turn of events, the Justice Department revealed on Friday that there was absolutely no evidence to support the President’s claims that former president Barack Obama “wiretapped” Trump Tower. Now who could’ve predicted that?! It’s not like he’s made countless unsupported claims in the past about things such as widespread voter fraud, missing State Department money, or Obama being the founder of ISIS. That would just be bizarre, and there’s no possible way that that guy could be the leader of the free world…right?
Saturday, September 2, 2017 - Trump returns to Houston a second time
After receiving widespread criticism for not meeting with any flood victims on his first trip, the Commander-in-Chief returned to Texas on Saturday in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Naturally, however, Trump still found a way to complain about the media in the midst of a national crisis, saying that the Coast Guard went “into winds that this media would not go into… unless it’s a really good story in which case they will.” While we do love the Coast Guard, it’s pretty obvious that Trump missed the stories of journalists putting their cameras down to rescue those trapped in floodwaters.
Tuesday, September 4, 2017 – Announcement of DACA rescission
Oh boy, he really outdid himself on this one. President Trump announced on Tuesday that he would be ending the five-year-old Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which allows children brought to the US without documentation to work and live legally upon approval. Now, you’d think the chief executive would be on board with this policy, right? After all, he’s always preaching about how immigrants need to follow the laws. Evidently, however, Trump is perfectly fine with deporting young, legal workers with no criminal records from the only country they’ve ever known. I don’t know about you, but to me, deporting young people who have done everything in their power to follow the rules doesn’t sound like the best way to Make America Great Again.
Tweet of the week:
This week's tweet of the week features a slow moving video of Hurricane Irma hurtling toward Puerto Rico. We chose it because honestly, it's just kind of weird. I mean, who (other than maybe a weatherman) tweets something like that?
