State Senator Jamie Raskin currently represents District 20 (Silver Spring & Takoma Park) in the Maryland State Senate, where he has served for almost 10 years. Jamie is a professor of Constitutional Law at AU’s Washington College of Law, and has a record of effective progressive leadership in the State Senate, where he serves as the Democratic Whip and has helped pass over 100 bills into law.
Jamie is running for Congress in Maryland’s 8th Congressional district now that Congressman Van Hollen has decided to vacate his seat to make a run for the U.S. Senate. Senator Raskin is running on a strong record in Maryland, and he wants to represent Maryland’s 8th in Congress to continue leadership on issues like environmental protections, a strong middle-class economy, and much-needed election reform. Raskin for Congress is looking for volunteers, as well as progressive, dedicated, and motivated Young Democrats interested in interning on a Congressional campaign. They are looking for students from local colleges and high schools who are interested in getting valuable experience in both Grassroots Organizing and Campaign Finance.
