Campaigns in the Digital Age – Internship Program

As a intern at Anne Lewis Strategies, you won’t be spending days making photocopies and getting coffee. We are a fast growing, boutique firm looking to make you a part of our team. Just ask one of our many employees who started out as interns – we’ll make sure you’re given the resources and taught the skills to succeed in the online communications space.

We want to make sure you’re getting the most you can out of working with us – and that we’re getting more from you than a mere cup of coffee. We offer a number of internship programs designed for a variety of interests, and we’ll pair you with a senior staff member to help bring out your best. We’ll also provide monthly brown bag lunches with the whole firm, so you get the chance to discuss the very latest in politics and the digital world. We live, eat and breathe in the digital world; if you work here, you can too.

Women in Online Politics Internship

• We’ve worked with Hillary Clinton for President, EMILY’s List, Senators Gillibrand, Klobuchar, Mikulski and Shaheen, Representatives McCarthy and Sinema, and many other female members of Congress.
• Founded by women, led by women – getting more women started in public life has been our passion from the beginning.
• We’re taking a hammer to glass ceilings – one mouse-click at a time – and you can be a part of it.
• Successful candidates will have demonstrated an interest in and commitment to women’s politics.

Big Data, Testing, & Online Engagement

• That $5 ask you always saw in Obama’s emails? Informal, personal emails that feel like the candidate wrote it? We invented those tactics – all through data-driven testing.
• Working alongside our digital production team, you’ll help design, implement and report on the tests we’re currently running.
• The right candidate will have the chance to help us pinpoint the next frontier of online engagement.

Graphic Design Internship

• Infographics. Website design. Social media posts. Eye-catching fundraising graphics. We are always looking for new, cutting-edge images to attract our audience’s attention.
• You’ll work with our digital production team and assist on the graphic design process for all of our clients.
• Successful candidates will have experience in Photoshop and are asked to submit a portfolio of work. (Graphic design interns need not submit writing samples. *lets out sigh of relief*)

The GREEN Team

• There are a lot of issues we’re passionate about at Anne Lewis Strategies, and the environment is one of the biggest.
• As part of the “green team,” you’ll work directly with some of the leading environmental groups around: We’ve worked with the Environmental Working Group, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Center for American Progress, League of Conservation Voters and more.
• Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to environmental causes.

Political Writing and Editing in the Online Sphere

• When it comes to writing for our clients, we do it all: everything from tweets to editorials, with a whole lot of email in between.
• You’ll get to write and edit across the spectrum of our clients, from nonprofits fighting for LGBT rights and defending the environment to national party committees to some of the highest profile members of the U.S. Senate.
• If there’s an issue being talked about on the national stage, you can bet we’re writing about it – and you could be, too. Whether you’re interested in congressional communications, online communications or speechwriting, we’ll get you on the right track.
• Successful candidates will have some writing and editing experience.
