In his newly-published book, Positively American*, Schumer, who helped Democrats beat the odds by winning a Senate majority in 2006, puts forth an innovative, attainable agenda to answer the question ‘What Do Dems Stand For’ and pave the way for victory in 2008.

Chuck Schumer was elected to the New York State Assembly at age 23, making him one of the youngest members since Theodore Roosevelt. Six years later he was elected to the House of Representatives. In 1998 he ran for U.S. Senate against three-term incumbent Alfonse D’Amato and won. In 2004 he was reelected to his Senate seat with the largest margin in New York State history. In the newly formed 110th Congress, Schumer will again be the Chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and will rank third in Senate Leadership as Vice Chairman of the Caucus.

* Hardcover copies of the book, Positively American will be available for purchase at the event.
* Event sponsored by the Office of University Events

Due to the great response we have received regarding James Carville’s upcoming appearance at GW, and because of the limited amount of seating, students interested in attending the speech must pick up a wristband in advance.

Wristbands will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis from the College Democrats Office (MC 422) from 7:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, February 5th - Thursday, February 9th. Only one wristband will be given out per student. You do not need to be a paid member of the College Democrats to pick up a wristband, though members will be invited to a private reception with Mr. Carville following the talk.

James Carville will be speaking on February 12th at 8:00 PM in the Jack Morton Auditorium. Doors open at 7:30 PM. Students with wristbands should be seated by 7:45 PM. After that time, we will open the auditorium to general admission.
