Ms. Cahill also served as campaign manager for Senator John Kerry’s 2004 Presidential campaign, and is presently helping Democrat Deval Patrick in his bid to become Massachusetts’ next Governor.
Join us in an evening of looking at our Democratic past, the current political climate, and the future of our party. The event will also feature a question and answer session in which you can ask Ms. Cahill your questions about elections, campaigning, our Party, or anything else.

Student Aid & Education - Take Action Now!
The GW College Democrats invites you to show your support for student aid and education. If you are looking for a fast an easy way to take action on the issues that affect you, there our two options that take no more than five minutes.
Reverse the Raid on Student Aid
Tuition rates at four year public schools have skyrocketed by 40% since 2001. Today’s typical student borrower is $17,500 in debt after graduating from college. Yet, earlier this year, Congress - in a virtual party line vote forced by the Republican majority - cut $12 billion out of student aid programs - even as interest rates on student and parent loans are being hiked UP this year. Instead of helping to deal with rising costs, the Republican-led Congress is making college more expensive.
Support Education as A Means to a Job
The best guarantee of a good job is a quality education. Students and parents who take out new loans to pay for college now will face considerably higher interest rates. This new interest rate hike comes on the heels of the largest cut to student aid in history. In particular, older students who would like to pursue advanced degrees will be hit hard by these changes. Democrats continue to fight to keep student loan debts low so that graduates can compete in today’s competitive job market.
You can Sign the petition for the Reverse the Raid on Student Aid Act of 2006, which would cut interest rates in half for students and parents or Sign the petition against the increase in interest rates for student loans.
